ABOUT
Hazlo was established by Mathew Gonzalez in early 2019 in response to the increasing popularity of build-to-rent (BTR) and the demand for expertise and experience in this fast-growing sector along with the ability to successfully deliver projects with exceptional development and project management.
Whilst Hazlo was created to address the demand created by BTR our team are experienced in and have successfully delivered complex projects across most sectors.
At Hazlo we understand what it takes to deliver successful projects and as an independent privately owned company with no accountability to any external investors or shareholders we are able to resource projects appropriately throughout the full life cycle.
We are all about getting the job done and delivering solutions to problems. Customer service is at the heart of what we do, we are focused on the successful delivery of our clients projects and do so by applying our professional approach utilising our skills and best practice internal processes.

After initially training as a quantity surveyor Mathew went on to study Project Management for Construction at University College London graduating in 2005. Following graduation Mathew spent over 17 years working as a project manager working his way from graduate project manager to project director working on some of the most challenging and complex projects in the UK and overseas.
Andy Travis

Director of Projects, Quantity Surveying and Cost Management
Andy is a highly experinced quantity surveyor and cost manager having had main contracting and professional practice roles.
He is experienced in delivering new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects ranging in value from £250k to in excess of £50m+ across many sectors including mixed use, residential, education, offices and retail in both the public and private sector. More recently he has delivered expert witness services for Hazlo.
Andy is responsible for the leadership of the quantity surveying and cost managment services at Hazlo.
Joe Walker
Director of Projects, Project Management
Enlisting in the British Army straight from Sixth Form college started his journey and began his interest in all aspects of leadership. With a full career as a Paratrooper, finishing as Brigade Sergeant Major, Joe has a wealth of experience spanning over 23 years. He’s been tested in both peacetime and operational war-torn environments, developing his skills of resilience, strategic leadership and getting the very best out of the people working for him
Chris Smith

Project Director, Project Management
Chris is an experienced building surveyor and project manager currently managing a number of projects accross the private a public sectors. His extensive technical knowledge and excellent leadership skills allow Chris to deliver some of the most techinal and chllanging projects that Hazlo are responsible for.
